Tragic Accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway: Bus Full of Devotees Collides with Tractor, Plunges 20 Feet into Ditch; 5 Dead, 7 Critical

A collision between a passenger bus and a tractor on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway has resulted in the death of five individuals, while seven others are in critical condition. Additionally, reports indicate that 42 people have sustained serious injuries.

According to the police, the passengers on the bus were traveling to Pandharpur to celebrate Ashadhi Ekadashi. The accident occurred near Panvel, where the bus collided with a tractor and plunged into a 20-foot-deep ditch. A total of 54 people were on board the bus. 

Seven critically injured passengers have been admitted to the Panvel Sub-District Hospital, while others with injuries have been taken to MGM Kamothe Hospital. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Bus Retrieved with Two Cranes After Accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

The police reported that four passenger buses from Kalyan-Dombivli were heading to Pandharpur to celebrate Ashadhi Ekadashi. Around 12:30 AM, one of the buses collided with a truck and plunged into a ditch by the roadside.

The police, with the help of locals, rescued the passengers and sent the injured to the hospital for treatment. Subsequently, the bus was retrieved using two cranes. After a thorough search of the bus, no additional injured or deceased individuals were found. The accident caused a traffic jam on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway for nearly two hours.
