Patidar Businessman from Mehsana Gifts Modi a ₹5 Crore Missile-Proof Car After Request from Brunei Government
Modi Receives ₹5 Crore Missile-Proof Car from Mehsana Businessman for Brunei Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Official Visit to Brunei and Singapore
Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on an official visit to Brunei and Singapore on the invitation of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah from September 3-4, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation. This visit coincides with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Brunei.
Mehsana’s Patidar’s Car Joins Modi’s Convoy
During this visit, Ankit Patel, a businessman originally from Mehsana, Gujarat, who currently resides in Brunei, made headlines by contributing a missile-proof car to Modi’s convoy. The Sultan of Brunei, known for his collection of over 300 Ferraris and 500 Rolls-Royces, requested a more secure vehicle for the Indian Prime Minister. Patel’s ₹5 crore Mercedes-Benz S580 4MATIC was promptly added to the convoy, alongside the Sultan’s two bulletproof BMW 7 Series cars.
Why Ankit Patel’s Car Was Chosen
The decision to include a missile-proof vehicle in the convoy was driven by the need for heightened security during Modi’s visit. Despite the Sultan’s extensive collection of luxury bulletproof cars, the Brunei government sought an even higher level of protection. Ankit Patel, who has been doing business in Brunei for the past decade, was contacted and quickly agreed to provide his car for this special occasion.
A Historic Moment for India-Brunei Relations
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah personally extended the invitation to Prime Minister Modi, marking a significant moment in the 40-year history of India-Brunei diplomatic relations. Brunei, a small Southeast Asian nation with a rich history of monarchy dating back to the 14th century, boasts a royal family with immense wealth, including the Sultan’s vast collection of luxury cars.
