In a poignant incident, 50-year-old Sureshbhai Mavjibhai Timbadia, a resident of Neelkanth Park, tragically took his own life by strangulation within his factory located in Ramnagar. The Thorala police swiftly initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.

Preliminary findings from the police inquiry unveiled a distressing narrative. The deceased, survived by two daughters and a son, reportedly faced significant familial challenges. Six months prior, both the father and son were subjected to a brutal assault, allegedly stemming from the son’s romantic involvement with a girl. Subsequently, a financial settlement was reached, with 10 lakh rupees exchanged. However, the family of the girl purportedly continued to pressurize the Timbadia family, demanding an additional 25 lakhs.

The deceased, grappling with financial strain and persistent harassment, claimed in a suicide note that he took this extreme step due to the unrelenting demands and the consequential lack of funds. ‘I have no debt and have not taken any kind of loan and I have to take money from some people and they will give it to you and I am forced to commit suicide, I am sorry, no one blames my family and family or relatives. . Don’t spend on me. Both the girl and my son may be at fault, but my son was called and beaten two or four times in different places, which I kept watching and did not say a word.

Rajubhai demanded Rs 10 lakh, which I settled and gave Rs. After that, Sanjaybhai came and threatened me and demanded 25 lakhs more, since he has been harassing me for the last 6 months, I have decided to sell my paddy too, but the paddy is given for cultivation and I have asked some people to look at the paddy, but if Sanjaybhai and Rajubhai do not arrange the money, I threatened to die, so I am taking this step out of boredom.’

The registered case involves multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), specifically Sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt), 387 (putting a person in fear of death or of grievous hurt in order to commit extortion), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506(2) (criminal intimidation), and 114 (abetment in the commission of the offense).
