Alert: Lashkar-e-Taiba Commander Arrives in Kashmir, Threat of Attacks on Rallies
Amidst concerns of disrupting the atmosphere before elections and orchestrating terrorist activities, a suspected terrorist organization with ties to Pakistan has initiated clandestine activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Intelligence agencies have acquired information regarding the infiltration of Junaid Ahmad, a commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, into Kashmir from Pakistan. It is revealed that he arrived in Kashmir on March 31 and held meetings with members of his sleeper cell.
These conversations were intercepted via satellite phones, exposing Junaid’s involvement in infiltrating Indian territory. During his stay, he convened with associates linked to his sleeper cell in Kulgam village, where a meeting was held at the residence of a terrorist.
Six individuals associated with Lashkar were present in a large garden at the time, although the identities of Junaid’s companions remain undisclosed. Information regarding the terrorist gathering has been reported to the Ministry of Home Affairs, prompting heightened alerts by security agencies in Kashmir.
Junaid Escapes Before Security Forces’ Arrival
Before the security forces could apprehend him, Junaid Ahmad, the suspected terrorist, managed to flee the scene. Following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, a joint effort by the Kashmir Police, BSF, and NIA teams is underway to locate Junaid Ahmad and his associates.
Inputs from BSF personnel led to the search of about half a dozen suspicious residences in Kulgam. Junaid, along with his accomplices, had already fled the area earlier, but security forces recovered several documents, including plans for terrorist attacks during political rallies.
BJP Leaders’ Rallies Under Threat, Heightened Security Measures
Sources indicate that intelligence agencies have received inputs suggesting that Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists are planning attacks on political rallies, particularly those organized by the BJP, in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
There are concerns that terrorists, especially in Kashmir, may target BJP rallies. Subsequently, security agencies have been advised to stay on high alert, especially in and around Kulgam, where election rallies are scheduled.
