Ladakh Road Accident: 9 Soldiers Killed, 1 Injured as Army Vehicle Falls into Valley
An army vehicle fell into a valley in Ladakh at 4.45 pm on Saturday. According to news agency PTI, 9 soldiers have died in this accident. While one is injured, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The accident took place near Kiari in Nyoma in South Ladakh.
Leh SSP PD Nitya said that a convoy of five army vehicles was on its way to Nyoma from Leh. The driver of one of the vehicles in the convoy (carrying 10 personnel) lost control near Kiari. Due to which the vehicle fell into the valley.
8 soldiers were martyred and 2 were injured in this accident. The injured were admitted to a hospital for treatment, where one soldier died during treatment. The condition of others is also fragile. Army officials said nine soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were among those who lost their lives in the accident.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed grief over the tragedy. He wrote on the X post – I am saddened by the death of an Indian Army soldier in an accident near Leh in Ladakh. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. The injured have been taken to a field hospital. I pray for his speedy recovery.
On April 29, an Army Ambulance Collapsed in Rajouri
On 29 April 2023, an army ambulance skidded off the road and fell into a 200 feet deep ravine in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. Two soldiers died in this accident. Along with this, 2 soldiers are also injured. The incident took place in Kerry sector near the Line of Control (LOC). The soldiers who died in the accident have been identified as Havildar Sudhir Kumar of Bihar and Paramveer Sharma of Rajouri.
The Accident Took Place in Machhil in November
last year also in November three soldiers were caught in an avalanche in Machhil area of Kupwara. 2 personnel were safely pulled out from under the snow. Five soldiers of 56 Rashtriya Rifles were on routine patrol when the incident took place. As soon as the information about the accident was received, rescue operations were started, but by the time the personnel were pulled out, 3 had already died.
16 Soldiers Were Killed When an Army Truck Fell Into a Valley in Sikkim
In December last year, an army truck fell into a valley in Jama, Sikkim. In which 16 soldiers were martyred. The vehicle skidded on a sharp bend and fell straight into the valley, the army said. Army had two more vans with this vehicle. All the three vehicles left for Thangu from Chatan in the morning. Army rescue team airlifted 4 injured soldiers and admitted them to hospital.
