Last Conversation with Her Mother
Afsha’s father revealed that on the night of January 21, Afsha had her last phone call with her mother at around 10 PM. During the call, she mentioned, “I’m struggling to wake up early in the morning.” This was the last communication the family had with her before the tragic incident.
Discovery of the Incident
The incident came to light on Wednesday morning when the PG owner found Afsha hanging in her room. The police were immediately informed, and Jawaharnagar Police Station officers arrived at the scene. The body was sent for postmortem after notifying her family.
Family’s Reaction
Afsha’s father received a call from the local police station early in the morning, urging them to come to Kota immediately. The news of their daughter’s death left the family devastated. The father, unable to speak further, ended the conversation, expressing his grief.
Details from the Landlord
Mahendra Nagar, the landlord’s brother, stated that the incident was discovered around 10 AM when the PG manager went to check on Afsha. She was found unresponsive, prompting them to contact the police. Mahendra added that Afsha seemed cheerful the previous evening, playing with children and distributing chocolates.

This marks the fifth student suicide in Kota within the first 15 days of 2025. The increasing mental pressure on students aiming for a brighter future is evident. Despite measures like installing anti-hanging devices on ceiling fans, such incidents continue to occur.
