Tragedy Strikes Jewish Prayer Meeting in Kerala: 3 Blasts, 1 Fatality, 25 Injured, 5 Critical; Over 2,000 Present During the Explosions
On Sunday, a convention center in Ernakulam, Kerala, experienced three blasts. During this incident, one woman lost her life, and around 20 people sustained injuries. According to reports, members of the Jewish community were offering prayers in the convention hall at around 9:30 AM when a series of three explosions occurred within a span of 5 minutes.
As per local spokesperson T.E. Shrikumar, at 9:45 AM, three blasts took place inside the convention hall. After the completion of the prayers in just a few seconds, a second explosion occurred within the hall. Shortly thereafter, two more blasts followed in the corridor near the hall, which was surrounded by members of the Jewish community.
The incident occurred at a convention center in Kalamassery, Ernakulam, where approximately a thousand people were present. Hospitals have been put on alert, and the police are present at the scene. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also arrived. The cause of the blasts has not been determined.
Hospitals are preparing for any medical requirements of the injured. An eyewitness said, “The blasts happened inside the hall. I heard three blasts. I was at the back. There was a lot of smoke. I heard that a woman has died in the blast.”
Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated, “This is a very unfortunate incident. We are collecting details about the incident. All top officials are present in Ernakulam. The DGP is on the scene. We are taking this very seriously. We are in contact with the DGP, and more information will be available after the investigation. Currently, one person has died, and two individuals are in critical condition. They have been admitted to various hospitals. After we receive more details, I will provide further updates.”
Two days ago, a Hamas rally took place in Ernakulam. Teams from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have arrived at the scene. Nearly a thousand people were present at the convention center when the blasts occurred. Hospitals are on high alert. The cause of the blasts is yet to be determined.
