Blast at Firecracker Factory in Kaushambi: 9 Dead, Including Factory Owner; 13 Trapped, 24 Workers Was Working
A severe fire broke out at a fireworks factory in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday. Subsequently, there was a powerful explosion. In this accident, 9 people lost their lives, including the factory owner Sahid Ali (33). A woman also lost her life in the mishap. Two individuals were critically injured in the accident. There is also concern that 13 people may be trapped inside the factory. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Rescue operations are underway at the scene since 7 a.m.
24 Workers Were Employed in the Factory
The magnitude of this accident is such that it can be estimated from the fact that workers from the factory, located about 500 meters away from the accident site, are carrying burnt hands and feet due to the accident. The fire has also engulfed surrounding houses. Police and fire brigade teams are engaged in rescue operations.
Workers Fell 15 Feet Outside the Factory
Eyewitnesses reported, “We suddenly heard loud noises. Initially, we thought it was bad weather and thundering, but when we came outside, we saw smoke in the sky. There was a powerful explosion in the factory, and workers fell about 15 feet in front of us.
Approximately 2 Dozen Locals Worked in the Factory’s Vicinity
Eyewitnesses stated that we suddenly heard very loud noises. Initially, we thought it was bad weather and thundering, but when we came outside, we saw a large balloon of smoke in the sky. There was a powerful explosion in the factory, and workers fell about 15 feet in front of us.
The Factory Occupied About 1.5 to 2 Bighas of Land
Locals say that this factory was located in an area of 1.5 to 2 bighas. Around two dozen locals from nearby villages used to work here. The factory was named New Rangoli. There is no construction within about 800 meters from the factory. A private school is located within 100 meters. The school was not closed on Sunday, otherwise, a major catastrophe would have occurred.
Workers Found Dead in Factory Incident
SP Brijesh Srivastava stated that we are present at the scene of the incident. The rescue operation is underway. Information about the deaths of 4 people has been received. The injured have been sent for treatment. People do not reside near the factory. Only workers working in the factory have died. This factory had a license to manufacture and sell firecrackers.
