Karnataka Land Allocation Controversy: BJP Demands CBI Probe into Kharge’s Trust, Siddaramaiah Defends
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has been accused of a land scam. The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has allocated five acres of land to the Siddharth Vihar Trust near the high-tech defense aerospace park in Bengaluru.
The Siddharth Vihar Trust is managed by Kharge and his family. The trust includes Mallikarjun Kharge, his wife Radhabai, son Priyank Kharge, son-in-law Radhakrishna Doddamani, and younger son Rahul Kharge.
The BJP alleges that Kharge misused his power in the state to acquire this land. They are demanding a CBI investigation into the scam. However, CM Siddaramaiah has dismissed these allegations.
Siddaramaiah Defends Kharge’s Trust, Claims Allocation Was Legal
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah defended the land allocation, stating, “It was done according to the law. Their trust is legitimate, so we proceeded with this.” He questioned previous BJP decisions, asking, “How did the BJP allocate land for Chanakya University while in power? We have acted according to the law.”
Priyank Kharge Questions Legality of Land Purchase
Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge said, “We are purchasing a CA site here. We haven’t asked for any subsidy, delayed payment, or anything illegal. What is illegal in this? I fail to understand.” He accused the BJP of politicizing the issue by dragging the names of the Chief Minister and Mallikarjun Kharge into it.
