Senior Congress leader and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah faces a looming threat to his position. Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot is expected to make a significant decision today regarding Siddaramaiah. This decision pertains to the case against the Chief Minister related to allegations of corruption.
Activist T.J. Abraham has requested the Governor to proceed with a case against Siddaramaiah for corruption. On the other hand, the state cabinet has appealed to the Governor not to take such action. Opposition parties BJP and JDS are also pressuring for the case to proceed. Notably, there have been allegations of corruption against the Chief Minister, including claims that he illegally acquired 14 plots in Mysore’s residential area.
Chief Minister and His Party Gear Up for Legal Battle
In response to the opposition’s demand for action against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, they have launched a week-long foot march between Mysore and Bengaluru. Meanwhile, to divert public attention from BJP’s protests, Congress is organizing a six-day rally.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also criticized the Governor, alleging that he has become a puppet of the BJP. The CM further accused the Governor of attempting to destabilize the elected government. Both the Chief Minister and his party are prepared to engage in a legal battle over this issue, according to reports from those familiar with the case.
JDS Strengthens Grip in Ramanagara District
On the second day of the BJP-JDS yatra, leaders continued their attacks on the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, Congress leaders targeted JDS State President and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy during their rally. JDS has a strong foothold in Ramanagara district.
Before being elected to the Lok Sabha, Kumaraswamy was a representative of the Channapatna assembly constituency. On Sunday, Kumaraswamy addressed BJP and JDS workers, stating that he will work with BJP to eliminate Congress and bring the NDA to power.
