Ex-CM Jagan Mohan Accuses Chandrababu of Dictatorship Amid Party Office Bulldozing in Andhra
The Andhra Pradesh government demolished the under-construction office of former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party on Saturday at 5:30 AM. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) carried out the demolition in Tadepalli, Guntur. Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned the act, calling Chandrababu Naidu’s actions dictatorial.
Previously, the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had demolished illegal structures near Reddy’s Lotus Pond residence used by security personnel. This action occurred just ten days after Reddy resigned as Chief Minister.
YSRCP Accuses New Andhra Pradesh CM of Political Vendetta
In response to the demolition, the YSRCP accused the new Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP Supremo Chandrababu Naidu of engaging in political vendetta. Despite a High Court order banning such actions, the government proceeded with the demolition, ignoring the court’s directive.
Officials Claim Unauthorized Construction on Irrigation Department Land
Officials from the CRDA and MTMC claimed that Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party office was built on land belonging to the Irrigation Department without proper permission. They alleged that during Reddy’s tenure, land previously used for a boatyard was leased at a low rate, and construction was carried out without necessary approvals from the CRDA and MTMC.
TDP Accuses Jagan Mohan Reddy of Misusing Public Funds for Luxury Resort
After forming the government in Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) accused former CM and YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy of misusing public funds. TDP alleges Jagan built a luxury sea-facing resort at Rishikonda, Visakhapatnam, costing ₹500 crore.
TDP MLA G. Srinivasa Rao, along with an NDA delegation and journalists, visited the resort. They claimed ₹33 crore was spent on interior design, with 200 chandeliers costing ₹15 lakh each, colorful lights, and a central air-conditioning system throughout the resort.
YSRCP Denies Allegations, Claims Resort is Government Property
The YSRCP has refuted TDP’s allegations, stating that the building is a government property. They clarified that the resort is a tourism project developed by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation.
The necessary approvals for this project, including the Coastal Regulatory Zone clearance, were obtained from the central government in May 2021.
CM Naidu Arrested in Skill Development Scam
In September 2023, Chandrababu Naidu was arrested in Nandyal city for his alleged involvement in a ₹371 crore skill development scam. The arrest took place at 6 AM, following a non-bailable warrant issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
CID officers, led by Kurnool Range DIG Raghurami Reddy, arrived at Naidu’s camp site at 3 AM. The CBI had filed an FIR in December 2021, which did not initially name Naidu. However, CID’s investigation in March 2023 led to his arrest based on new findings.
