ISRO’s Global Recognition: Announcement of ‘World Space Award’ for Chandrayaan-3’s Historic Achievement
Scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have made history by successfully landing Chandrayaan-3 near the Moon’s south pole. This remarkable achievement has garnered global recognition for ISRO.
The International Space Federation (ISF) will honor this historic success of Chandrayaan-3 with the World Space Award. Notably, before India, only spacecraft from the United States, Russia, and China had successfully performed a soft landing on the Moon.
Award to be Presented at IAC Opening Ceremony
The award will be presented during the opening ceremony of the 75th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Milan, Italy, on October 14. Notably, India became the first country to achieve a successful landing near the Moon’s south pole on August 23, 2023.
The Federation stated, “The Chandrayaan-3 mission by ISRO exemplifies the synergy of scientific curiosity and cost-effective engineering. It symbolizes India’s commitment to excellence and the immense potential space research holds for humanity. This mission is a global benchmark of innovation.”
Successful Integration of Space and Nuclear Sectors
One of the many achievements of Chandrayaan-3 was the successful integration of India’s space and nuclear sectors. The mission’s propulsion module was powered by nuclear technology. It is noteworthy that in celebration of the first anniversary of Chandrayaan-3’s landing, various programs are being organized across the country.
