Upcoming India-Pakistan Cricket Match Sparks Ticket Frenzy
On the upcoming 14th of October, there will be an India-Pakistan cricket match. However, obtaining tickets for this match has become increasingly difficult. Many cricket enthusiasts are still without tickets, driving a surge in ticket prices. Currently, ticket prices have inflated ten to fifteen times their face value. On social media, black market sellers are openly offering tickets. Even traders, students, ordinary citizens, and young people are getting involved in this frenzy.
Tickets Priced at 20,000 to 35,000 Rupees for 2,000 Rupee Tickets
A revealing story from Divya Bhaskar shows that the prices of tickets have skyrocketed in the black market. While a 2,000 Rupee ticket is being sold for as much as 20,000 to 35,000 Rupees, people continue to buy them based on their need. For example, some are willing to pay up to 50,000 Rupees for a 4,000 Rupee ticket. This inflated ticket pricing affects not only big traders but also students in colleges and everyday citizens. Young people are not the only ones taking part in this.
Selling Tickets Alongside Mobile Phones
A businessman named Bharat in Ahmedabad, near Murtiman Kompaleksh on Relief Road, has a lucrative mobile phone business. He regularly sends messages to his dealers and lately has included tickets for the India-Pakistan cricket match. Bharat is texting his dealers that if they need tickets, he can provide one ticket for 25,000 Rupees. However, this seems to be negotiable, and one could get two tickets for 50,000 Rupees.
Sending Messages to Hundreds on Broadcast
Although his main business is mobile phones, Bharat recently started selling tickets for the cricket match. This time, he is sending messages to hundreds of people, even those not familiar to him, offering tickets. Bharat asks if anyone is interested in purchasing tickets and informs them that for tickets costing 4,000 Rupees, he will offer them for 25,000 Rupees.
Offering Tickets through Online Platforms
A student living in Ahmedabad, named Pakshal, has been studying for exams. He decided to offer tickets to his friends online. After posting in his story, he asked Divya Bhaskar for information. Divya Bhaskar contacted him and inquired if he was selling tickets. Pakshal replied, saying that he could offer tickets for 30,000 to 35,000 Rupees. When asked about more details, he clarified that the 2,000 Rupee ticket could be bought for 30,000 to 35,000 Rupees.
Ticket Sales Trend on Social Media
At the moment, the ticket resale business is booming, with people trying to capitalize on the upcoming India-Pakistan cricket match. When people fail to get tickets through official channels, they turn to black market sellers who are charging up to ten to fifteen times the original ticket price. Ticket sales have also become a trending topic on social media platforms. People are posting stories and posts with pictures of tickets, trying to sell them at higher prices. Thus, the ticket business has extended into the black market, and ticket prices have surged accordingly.
Agents Earning Commissions for Each Ticket
Currently, many individuals are acting as ticket agents, even though they don’t possess actual tickets. People are publishing advertisements with pictures of tickets on social media. When inquiries are made, buyers discuss the price and negotiate with the sellers. In many cases, sellers obtain tickets from other individuals, and for this service, they charge a commission. Typically, multiple agents share one ticket, so each agent earns a commission for the same ticket. This is why ticket prices have reached astronomical levels.
