Indian Man Kills Nepali Student in U.S. During Robbery Attempt

Nepali Student Murdered in Houston, Indian Suspect Arrested

A tragic incident occurred in Houston where a 21-year-old Nepali student, Muna Pandey, was found dead in her apartment. The accused, identified as Bobby Singh Shah, a 52-year-old Indian man, has been arrested. According to the police, Bobby entered Muna’s apartment with the intention of robbery, but when caught, he shot her multiple times.

Police discovered Muna’s body on a Monday evening after receiving a call reporting the incident. They found her lying face down on her bed, having suffered three gunshot wounds. She was declared dead at the scene.

Breakthrough in Investigation

Two days after the murder, the police reviewed CCTV footage and discovered that Muna had been killed on Saturday. The footage showed Bobby leaving the apartment. With this evidence, the police released his photograph to the public.

A day later, a person came forward, identifying Bobby Shah from the photograph. He informed the police that he had worked with Bobby at a restaurant and provided them with Bobby’s address and contact details. Subsequently, the police arrested Bobby on Monday and charged him with murder. He confessed to forcing Muna to open the door at gunpoint.

Muna’s Plans and Unfortunate End

Court documents revealed that Muna had planned to go out with friends on the day she was killed. Her friends tried to contact her through calls and messages, but received no response. A friend also mentioned that a year ago, Muna was being stalked by a boy, which led her to install a camera at the entrance of her apartment. It was this camera footage that helped identify the perpetrator.

Muna had come to Houston in 2021 to study at Houston Community College. She was the only child of her parents. Her mother, who had been trying to reach her daughter for several days, could not connect as Muna’s phone was switched off.

Efforts are now underway by the Nepali Association, in collaboration with the Nepali Consulate, to bring Muna’s mother to Houston. A fund is being raised to support this cause.
