Delhi Police’s Special Cell Arrests Hizbul Mujahideen Terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir Connection
The Delhi Police’s Special Cell has successfully apprehended a terrorist associated with Hizbul Mujahideen. Javed Mattoo, wanted in connection with 11 terrorism-related cases in Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested when he arrived in Delhi to procure weapons. During the arrest, the police recovered a cache of weapons from Javed’s possession, including a 9mm star pistol, 6 cartridges, and a stolen car.
Javed, hailing from Nizamuddin, had been on the radar of security agencies. The Special Cell and central agencies are interrogating him to gather information about his network and Hizbul’s activities. Efforts are also being made to ascertain his involvement in terrorism-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.
Javed Mattoo falls under the category ‘A’ as a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist and is involved in five grenade attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Police had announced a reward of more than 10 lakhs INR for information leading to his capture. Apart from the cases in Jammu, Javed is also accused of the killing of five police personnel and injuring several others. He is allegedly involved in an IED blast in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir.
Commissioner HGS Dhaliwal of the Special Cell mentioned that they received information a few days ago about the presence of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in Delhi-NCR, aiming to procure arms and ammunition. The arrest of Javed Mattoo is a significant development in the fight against terrorism, and interrogations are ongoing to extract more information about his activities and network.
Javed Arrived in Delhi Two Days Ago
Javed, a resident of Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir, arrived in Delhi just two days ago. He had come to the capital from his hometown to procure weapons and ammunition, according to the information received from his associates. Allegedly linked to Pakistan’s ISI, Javed is suspected to be involved in arms and ammunition supply facilitated by handlers based in Pakistan. Acting on intelligence inputs, Javed was arrested by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell, who suspected him of orchestrating terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and other locations. The arrest is part of the ongoing efforts to counteract terrorism and apprehend individuals involved in such activities.
