Heroic Pilot Saves 400 Lives in Australia Helicopter Crash; Video Goes Viral
Every day, there are reports of plane and helicopter crashes around the world. Today, another helicopter crash occurred. The accident happened in Australia, where the helicopter suddenly fell onto a hotel roof from an altitude of 10,000 feet. As soon as it hit the roof, the helicopter caught fire. The pilot died in the accident, but by sacrificing his own life, he saved 400 others. The pilot had already informed ATC officials about the possibility of a crash, who then notified the police. The police arrived at the accident site on time.
As soon as the helicopter collided with the hotel’s roof, a loud explosion occurred, and the hotel’s emergency alarm went off. The police and hotel security promptly evacuated the entire hotel. Approximately 400 people were saved. The sight of the helicopter falling and burning from the sky created a sense of fear among the onlookers. They recorded videos of the burning helicopter and uploaded them to social media, which went viral.
Helicopter Crash Due to Broken Propellers
According to media reports, the helicopter crashed onto the roof of the Hilton Double Tree Hotel in Cairns, Australia. Queensland Police stated that the fire in the helicopter caused the pilot’s death. Another person aboard the helicopter also died. The crash resulted in the breaking of two of the helicopter’s propellers. The propellers might have broken due to wind pressure, causing the helicopter to lose balance and crash onto the hotel’s roof.
Emergency teams arrived at the scene and rescued the guests trapped in the hotel, transferring them to other hotels. Approximately 400 people, including hotel staff, were saved. The bodies of the two deceased individuals have been sent for postmortem. Cairns is a tourist destination in Australia, attracting thousands of visitors daily. It is one of Australia’s busiest cities, and such helicopter crash incidents have become a matter of concern in these cities.
People Heard Explosion-Like Sound
According to Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), the impact with the roof caused the helicopter’s two rotor blades to break and fall into the Esplanade and the hotel’s pool. Hotel spokesperson Kathleen Dennings told the media that there was an explosion-like sound, and she saw flames from the fire. There was a deafening explosion, and the helicopter’s rotor blades were found on the ground. People mistook them for lamp posts. Later, when looking up, they saw a large hole in the building’s window. According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, the roads around the hotel have been cordoned off, and the police have declared a state of emergency.
