Health Officer Falls Victim to Honeytrap: Blackmailed with Video, ₹30 Lakh Extortion Demanded

Dr. Rajiv A. Anjaria, a 58-year-old health officer in Anjar for the past 14 years, was caught in a honey trap. He was blackmailed with an obscene video, and there was an attempt to extort ₹3 million from him. The young woman initially approached the doctor under the guise of seeking employment. Later, she gained his trust and arranged personal meetings. During one such meeting, she invited him home and disrobed in front of him, while her so-called husband arrived immediately and recorded the incident. They then threatened to file a false rape case if he did not pay ₹3 million, leading the doctor to file a police complaint.

Doctor Receives Message from Unknown Number

According to details from the police station, on August 17, the doctor received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number for the first time. The sender introduced herself as Narmada Dineshbhai Valand, claiming to work as an Asha worker in Meghpar. Dr. Anjaria didn’t initially respond, but Narmada expressed her desire to meet him at his Anjar office. She met him in person at 3 p.m. and later started sending him morning and night messages with her photos, gradually building a closer rapport. She even visited the office again and began frequent WhatsApp calls with the doctor, eventually inviting him to her home for tea.

Woman Gradually Increases Interaction

Narmada mentioned that she lived in Bhaktinagar-3 and urgently needed a job, requesting the doctor’s help if a position became available. She also obtained his mobile number. On September 21, a Saturday morning, she called the doctor, stating she was staying at her parents’ house in Rajnagar. She invited the doctor over, saying her parents wanted to meet him. When the doctor arrived, her parents were not present. Narmada served him tea and suddenly disrobed in front of him. At that moment, her so-called husband Dinesh barged in.

Woman Strips in Front of Doctor

Dinesh accused the doctor of ruining his life and punched him two or three times, saying, “Now I won’t let you go.” He forcibly removed the doctor’s shirt. Then, calling Narmada, they recorded a video clip of both of them. Afterward, Dinesh threatened to make the video viral and file a false rape complaint unless the doctor paid ₹3 million. The doctor went to his office and promised to immediately give ₹50,000, arranging the remaining amount later. Dinesh, posing as Narmada’s husband Gulam, took signed cheques worth ₹5 lakh each from the doctor. They even coerced him to sign two blank cheques, threatening that the money should be arranged by Tuesday, or else the false complaint would be filed.

Police File Complaint Against Honey Trap Gang

After receiving ₹50,000, Gulam left with Narmada. On Tuesday, Gulam called the doctor on WhatsApp, demanding the remaining money. When the doctor said he couldn’t arrange it, Gulam threatened to proceed with the false rape complaint unless it was resolved by Wednesday. The doctor confided in his brother-in-law, who advised him to report the incident. Late that night, the doctor went to Adipur police station, where a case was filed against Narmada Dinesh Valand and her husband Gulam Haji, based on the doctor’s complaint. The investigation is now underway.
