Seventeen Gujarati pilgrims from Aravalli district, trapped near Moti Lincholi in Uttarakhand due to rain and landslides, were rescued within a few hours. All the pilgrims safely descended. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel coordinated with the Uttarakhand SEOC (State Emergency Operation Center) for immediate rescue operations through the State Emergency Operation Center.

Cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh

Five cloudbursts occurred in Himachal Pradesh in one night, resulting in 53 people missing. Five bodies have been recovered, while 48 people remain missing. NDRF, SDRF, police, and home guard personnel are conducting search operations. The rescue team in Shimla has yet to achieve success, with no leads on the 36 missing individuals, although some body parts have been found.

Death Toll Reaches 313 in Wayanad

In Kerala’s Wayanad, the death toll has reached 313 due to landslides following heavy rainfall. 130 people are hospitalized, and 206 people remain missing on the fourth day. The weather department has again issued a red alert for rain in Wayanad. The disaster management team has expressed concerns about further landslides in some areas.

During this time, Major General VT Mathew, the General Commander of the Army, stated that the rescue operations have been completed. Now, they are only searching for bodies, but will rescue anyone trapped in houses.

Heavy Rainfall Alert for August 3

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall (over 20 cm) is expected in Madhya Pradesh, Konkan-Goa, Maharashtra, and Gujarat on August 3. More than 12 cm of rainfall is expected in Uttarakhand, eastern Rajasthan, Saurashtra, and Kutch. In Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala, and coastal Karnataka, rainfall of 7 cm is expected.
