Gujarat to Witness Heavy Rain and Strong Winds for the Next 7 Days; IMD Issues Red Alert
Several parts of Gujarat are already experiencing unseasonal heavy rainfall even before the official onset of monsoon. For the past few days, intense rain has drenched many districts, and with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting continued rainfall over the next seven days, farmers are increasingly worried.

Two Active Weather Systems Likely to Cause Rain Until May 26
As per the IMD, two simultaneous weather systems are active, raising the chances of continued rainfall across the state until May 26. The latest update warns of heavy rain in Gir Somnath, Diu, Junagadh, Porbandar, and Amreli. A red alert has also been issued for thunderstorms with wind speeds ranging from 60 to 87 km/h.
Strong Winds at 62–87 km/h Expected in Coastal Areas
According to the Gujarat weather department, coastal districts such as Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, and Gir Somnath may experience strong winds blowing at speeds between 62 and 87 km/h, accompanied by heavy rainfall and possible lightning. Notably, Amreli has already seen rainy conditions since early morning today.

7-Day Rain Forecast Across Gujarat
The IMD has predicted scattered to heavy rainfall in various parts of Gujarat over the next 7 days. The southwest monsoon is also expected to reach Kerala soon, potentially impacting Gujarat as well. Due to the active systems, rainy conditions are likely to persist until May 26. On Wednesday, rain is forecasted in 21 districts across the state.

- May 21: Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Diu, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli
- May 22: Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Anand, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Diu (Heavy Rain)
- May 23: Scattered rain in Rajkot, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Diu, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Dang; Heavy to very heavy rain in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Navsari, Valsad, Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli
- May 24: Light to heavy rainfall across the state
- May 25: Scattered rain in Porbandar, Rajkot, Amreli, Surat, Tapi; Very heavy rainfall in Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Diu, Navsari, Dang, Daman, Valsad, Dadra & Nagar Haveli
- May 26: Light to heavy rainfall in Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Diu, Tapi, Navsari, Dang, Daman, Valsad, Dadra & Nagar Haveli
Moderate to Heavy Rain Forecast in Saurashtra-Kutch Region
According to IMD Director A.K. Das, Gujarat is expected to receive intermittent to heavy rainfall over the next 7 days. Post-May 21, rainfall intensity is likely to increase, with moderate to heavy showers expected in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions.

Next Four Days: Widespread Rain Expected
The Saurashtra-Kutch region is likely to receive light to heavy rainfall for two days, with rain clouds expected to cover most parts of the state between May 22 and May 24. During this period, heavy rainfall could occur statewide, while Kutch is expected to experience only light showers.
