Gujarat Government Announces 4% Salary Hike for 9 Lakh Employees from July 2023

Bhupendra Patel announced a 4% increase in the salaries of state government employees effective July 2023. This raise will benefit 4.45 lakh employees and 4.63 lakh pensioners from state services, panchayat services, and other sectors.

The increment in salaries will be disbursed over an 8-month period, with arrears being paid along with the salary for three months.

NPS employees will receive a 10% allowance, while the state government will provide a 14% increment.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has made these decisions in the broader interest of state government employees.

The Chief Minister has announced a 4% increase in the dearness allowance for state government employees effective July 1, 2023.

This increment in dearness allowance will benefit a total of 4.45 lakh employees and approximately 4.63 lakh retirees, including pensioners from the state government, panchayat services, and other sectors.

The increased dearness allowance will be disbursed over an 8-month period, starting from July 1, 2023, to February 2024.

Accordingly, the arrears for the months of July to September 2023 will be paid along with the salary of March 2024, while the arrears for October to December 2023 will be paid along with the salary of April 2024, and the arrears for January and February 2024 will be paid along with the salary of May 2024.

The Chief Minister has also announced a new enhanced pension scheme in the NPS, addressing the demands of employees. Consequently, NPS employees will receive a 10% allowance, and the state government will provide a 14% increment.

After the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s announcement of two significant decisions, the employees will now receive the 10th earned leave conversion payment, which was previously based on the 6th pay scale, according to the 7th pay scale. This decision is deemed necessary following the Chief Minister’s commitment to employee welfare.

The necessary orders for the implementation of these employee welfare decisions, as announced by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, have been issued by the Finance Department, along with guidelines for compliance.
