Gujarat Police Deports Around 300 Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants Following Security Alert
In a major crackdown, Gujarat Police has deported nearly 300 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants amid heightened security measures following the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir. The state government, on high alert after the incident, launched a targeted operation to identify and remove illegal immigrants residing in various districts of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad’s Chandola area.
Authorities conducted searches across multiple regions, tracking down illegal residents and demolishing their unauthorized settlements using bulldozers. Following thorough verification, approximately 300 Bangladeshis were identified for deportation and were flown back to their country via a coordinated and confidential operation.
Illegal Immigrants Traced in Ahmedabad and Surat
Operations were intensified in key districts like Ahmedabad and Surat, where a significant number of illegal immigrants were discovered. Sources reveal that 800 suspected Bangladeshis were detained in Ahmedabad, out of which 200 were confirmed to be illegal immigrants. Similarly, in Surat, 134 individuals were detained, with 90 of them confirmed to have illegally entered and resided in India.
Deportation Conducted via Air Route
The entire deportation process was executed under direct instructions from the state government. The apprehended individuals were first transported to Vadodara by buses under police escort. From there, they were deported via air back to Bangladesh. The state government carried out the operation in a discreet manner to ensure security and smooth execution.
This large-scale deportation marks one of Gujarat’s most significant actions against illegal immigration in recent times.
