Students Passing Basic Mathematics in Gujarat Board Class 10 Can Enter Class 11 Science Group B
Recently, the Gujarat Board results were announced. Students who have passed Basic Mathematics in Class 10 will be eligible to get admission in Class 11 Science Stream in either A or AB group, but not in the B group. However, admission to the B group will be available. Similarly, students who have passed Basic Mathematics from the CBSE Board can also get admission to Class 11 Science Stream in the B group of the Gujarat Board. If students wish to get admission in the A group, they can do so by passing the supplementary examination.
Passing Standard Mathematics Exam is Essential for Admission to Group A
According to a circular issued by the education department, students who have passed Basic Mathematics in Class 10 will be eligible for admission to the B group in Class 11 Science Stream, but not in the A or AB groups. If students who have passed Basic Mathematics wish to enter Class 11 in the A or AB group, they can do so by passing the Standard Mathematics exam in the supplementary exams of July. The same rule will apply for CBSE Board students. CBSE Board students can also get admission to groups A and AB by passing the Standard Mathematics exam.
Criteria for Merit List for Admission to Class 11 Science Stream
During the preparation of the merit list for admission to Class 11 Science Stream, the categorization will be as follows:
- Scheduled Caste – 7%
- Scheduled Tribe – 11%
- Socially and Educationally Backward Classes – 27%
- Economically Weaker Sections – 10%
- Students from Own School – 25%
- Students from Other Schools – 6%
