Terrorist Ghori Behind 2002 Akshardham Attack Threatens to Blow Up Indian Trains

Recently, most terrorist attacks in India have been occurring in Jammu and Kashmir and nearby areas. However, a major and suspicious attack took place at Rameshwaram in southern India, which has alarmed intelligence agencies.

The responsibility for the bomb blast at the famous Rameshwaram Café was claimed by a Pakistan-based terrorist, Farhatullah Ghori. Now, Ghori has devised a new plan to target the Indian Railways.

With the festival season approaching from August 15th to Diwali, intelligence agencies in India are on high alert. Amid this heightened vigilance, another video by terrorist Farhatullah Ghori has increased concerns among agencies. In the video, Ghori discusses plans to attack trains across the country through sleeper cells.

After becoming a fugitive in India, Ghori has been residing in Pakistan. With the assistance of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), he had previously plotted the blast at the Rameshwaram Café in Bangalore using sleeper cells.

Threat to Derail Indian Railways

According to media reports, terrorist Farhatullah Ghori has threatened to derail the Indian railway network with the help of sleeper cells. In a video, he discusses various methods for using pressure cookers to carry out bomb explosions.

He also mentions plans to blow up petrol and gas pipelines. Several Hindu leaders are also mentioned as potential targets of the terrorist’s plans.

Ghori’s Threats in New Video

In the video, Ghori states, “The Indian government is weakening our sleeper cells by targeting my assets through the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), but we will return and shake the government.” The report claims that this video was released on Telegram approximately three weeks ago.

Rameshwaram Blast Perpetrators

On March 1st, the Rameshwaram blast injured at least 10 people. After the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the case on March 3rd, they conducted an investigation and arrested two main suspects, Abdul Mateen Ahmed Taha and Musavir Hussain Shajib, on April 12th.

Taha was the mastermind behind the blast, while Shajib placed the IED in the café. Both were arrested from a lodge near Kolkata. They are members of the Islamic State (IS) module, the same group whose member, Shariq, carried out a blast in Mangaluru in November 2022.

Farhatullah Ghori and his son-in-law Shahid Faizal have established a strong sleeper cell network in southern India. Faizal was in contact with both suspects involved in the Rameshwaram café blast and was a key handler in this case.

Who is Farhatullah Ghori?

Farhatullah Ghori, also known by aliases Abu Sufyan, Sardar Saheb, and Faru, has been involved in several high-profile attacks. His involvement includes the 2002 Akshardham Temple attack in Gujarat, which resulted in over 33 deaths and 80 injuries. He was also behind the 2005 suicide attack on the Task Force office in Hyderabad.

Last year, after the Delhi Police arrested three of the most-wanted terrorists from the national capital and Uttar Pradesh, it was revealed that Ghori was orchestrating online jihadist recruitment. The police disclosed that Ghori was a handler for terrorists. A few months ago, after Delhi Police arrested several terrorists from the Pune-ISIS module across the country, Ghori’s name was recorded in connection with their activities.
