Former BJP Corporator’s Son Murdered: Incident Occurred in Police Presence at Sayaji Hospital, Father Says ‘My Son Had No Enmity with Anyone’
In a shocking incident, the son of Ramesh Parmar (Raja), a former BJP corporator from Vadodara, was murdered on the premises of Sayaji Hospital. Reports suggest that the youth, who had gone to the hospital to help locals from his area, was attacked by an individual named Babar with a knife, even in the presence of the police.
Following the incident, large crowds gathered at Sayaji Hospital during the night, prompting the deployment of heavy police security. To prevent further escalation, strict police arrangements have also been enforced in the Nagarwada area of the city.
Former Corporator Ramesh Parmar Recounts Events Leading to the Tragedy
Former BJP councilor Ramesh Parmar (Raja) shared details about the incident, stating that a fight broke out among a group of boys in the Nagarwada area last night. During the altercation, two boys from their neighborhood, Vikram and Bhaylu, were injured. As a result, a crowd gathered, and the injured boys were immediately rushed to Sayaji Hospital.
Ramesh Parmar mentioned, “I, along with my son Tapan, also went to Sayaji Hospital to ensure that both boys received treatment. After arranging for their medical care, I spoke to my son and told him, ‘I’ll head home now; you stay until their treatment is complete and then come home.'”
Victim’s Father Questions Police Involvement in the Incident
The victim’s father, Ramesh Parmar, expressed his grief and concerns about the incident. He stated, “I had just reached home and was about to drink water when I received the shocking news that my son had been attacked with a sword and I needed to come immediately. However, by the time I reached the hospital, my son had already passed away.”
He further added, “The attacker, named Babar, is a known anti-social element with several criminal cases against him. Neither my son nor I had any enmity with anyone. At the time of the incident, the police were present, and yet this attack took place, raising serious questions about their actions. Babar was brought to the hospital in a police van, so how did he manage to carry a weapon? Why didn’t the police conduct a proper check on him?”
These questions have sparked concerns about police accountability and security measures during such incidents.
How Did the Attacker Commit Murder While in Police Custody?
Rahul Rajput, a friend of the deceased Tapan, recounted the sequence of events. He explained that the incident initially took place near Mehtawadi in the Nagarwada area, where Babar Pathan, accompanied by two to three accomplices, attacked Tapan with a knife. Tapan was then rushed to Sayaji Hospital for treatment.
Rahul added, “Babar was brought to the hospital under police protection but was later left unsupervised in the hospital premises. Meanwhile, Tapan and another friend had gone to the canteen for tea. Taking advantage of this, Babar approached Tapan and stabbed him multiple times, killing him. We tried to intervene and caught Babar, who was then taken away in a police jeep. This tragedy occurred due to the negligence of the police.”
An eyewitness corroborated the account, stating, “Tapan and I were leaving the canteen after having tea. As I was starting my vehicle, Babar suddenly appeared with a knife in his hand. Right in front of me, Babar stabbed Tapan five to six times, resulting in his death. This horrifying incident unfolded before my eyes, leaving us all in shock.”
These revelations raise serious concerns about the police’s handling of the suspect and their failure to prevent the attack, despite Babar being in their custody.
Police Statement on the Incident
DCP Panna Momaya provided details about the incident, stating, “A fight broke out among some youths, following which the injured individuals were brought to Sayaji Hospital for treatment. During this time, Babar stabbed Tapan with a knife. An investigation into the matter has been initiated, and we are analyzing CCTV footage to gather more evidence. The FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team is also assisting in the investigation.”
She further added, “The accused, Babar, has a history of criminal activities and has been involved in previous cases of violence. We are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the case.”
The police are under scrutiny for the incident, with questions being raised about how the attacker managed to carry out the murder despite being brought to the hospital under police observation.
Tight Security Deployed in Nagarwada Area
On Sunday night, following a minor altercation in the Nagarwada area, the injured individuals were rushed to Sayaji Hospital. However, the situation escalated when the son of a former corporator, who had gone to assist the injured, was murdered at the hospital. This led to large crowds gathering at the hospital during the night, prompting authorities to implement strict police security at the premises.
Additionally, to prevent further unrest, tight police arrangements have been made in the Nagarwada area as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and maintain peace in the locality.
