Fatal Attack in Rajkot Jain Temple: Devotee Stabbed 5 Times in CCTV Incident
A complaint has been filed by the victim’s brother at Bhaktinagar Police Station against a suspect who is on the run for a fatal attack that occurred on August 20, 2024, at the Digambar Jain Temple located at Panchanath Plot in Rajkot. It is noteworthy that the accused, who has been wanted in a brawl case for 8 months, was already apprehended by Bhaktinagar Police on the 14th of the same month. CCTV footage of the attack at the Jain Derasar has also been released today.
Victim Files Complaint at Bhaktinagar Police Station
Mayurbhai Purushottambhai Sagpariya (aged 39), residing at Mavdi Ashta Residency and running a factory named Shiv Hardware in Sorathiyawadi, has filed a complaint against Bhavesh Vinodbhai Gol at Bhaktinagar Police Station. In his complaint, he stated that on the morning of July 1, his elder brother Amit called him and informed that he had been injured after being hit by a car while he was going to his factory on Haridhwa Road. They rushed to the location and took his brother to the hospital.
Attack Committed in Retaliation
During treatment at the hospital, Amit revealed that the attacker was Bhavesh Gol, who, after hitting him, had tried to run him over with a car. Amit had also been previously attacked with a knife 10 months ago, leading to the arrest of the attacker. While visiting the temple, the attacker, holding a grudge, launched another assault from behind. Therefore, a complaint of attempted murder was filed at the A Division Police Station. With a new complaint registered at Bhaktinagar Police Station regarding the attempted murder, the police have launched a search for the accused.
