Rules for Farmer Verification Changed: Only Records After April 6, 1995, Will Be Considered

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has made a significant decision to simplify the process of registering and certifying land sales. This move will expedite the digitization and transparent online process for land sale cases.

The Revenue Department has announced that henceforth, revenue records will be considered for farmer verification from April 6, 1995, onwards.

Simplified Process for Land Sale Registration

The process for registering land sales in agricultural cases was previously cumbersome. It required farmers to provide a verification certificate proving their status as a farmer from the year 1951-52.

However, due to various reasons, obtaining these documents was challenging, leading to the rejection of sale registrations and non-agricultural applications. This process has now been simplified, and from April 6, 1995, onwards, only the revenue records will be considered.

Presentation Made to the Chief Minister

The process of farmer verification faced numerous difficulties. Issues arose due to natural disasters like floods, and there were challenges in obtaining proof of farming status from older individuals, as well as from current buyers.

Presentations were made to the Chief Minister regarding these issues. As a result, the Chief Minister has made this decision. However, this provision will not apply to cases where there is ongoing litigation or investigation concerning the farmer’s status.

Records to be Considered for Farmer Verification

When registering the sale of agricultural land, the farmer will need to present an affidavit in the prescribed format confirming their status as a farmer.

Additionally, for non-agricultural land applications, only records from after April 6, 1995, will be considered for farmer verification. If there are any discrepancies regarding the title, an affidavit acknowledging the need for legal action will also be required.
