Dombivli Boiler Blast: FIR Against Factory Owners, 10 Dead, Accused on the Run for Negligence
The death toll in the chemical factory blast in Dombivli, Maharashtra, has risen to 10. The police have filed charges against the owners and staff of Amudhan Chemical Private Limited, the factory where the blast occurred. Currently, all the accused are absconding.
Police Form Teams to Capture Accused
The police have formed five teams to capture the accused. The search is ongoing. According to the police, the company was negligent in storing raw materials, which led to the blast.
Residents Report Multiple Explosions
Local residents reported that there were three consecutive small explosions. They were so loud that they were heard up to 3 km away. The glass of nearby buildings cracked, and several houses in the vicinity were damaged due to the blast.
Factory Was Closed, Says State Industry Minister
According to State Industry Minister Uday Samant, the factory was closed. Most of the deceased were from a nearby factory and were working there at the time of the accident. The state’s industry and labor department issued a statement that the boiler in the factory was not registered under the Indian Boiler Act 1950.
8 People Suspended
Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis tweeted about the Dombivli fire incident on May 23. He said that the boiler explosion at the chemical company in Dombivli is tragic. Eight people have been suspended in this case.
Shrikant Shinde: Chemical Factories to be Relocated in Six Months
Shrikant Shinde, son of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, also reached the incident site. Speaking to the media, he said that they are providing treatment to the injured. To prevent such incidents, they will relocate chemical factories outside residential areas within the next six months. Maharashtra Industry Minister Uday Samant said that the factory had been closed for many months and had just resumed operations a few days ago.
