Congress Leader Haroon Paleja Assassinated: 10 Armed Men Attack in Jamnagar’s Bedi Area
A tense situation has unfolded in Jamnagar as a result of the fatal shooting of Haroon Paleja, a lawyer associated with the Congress party for years. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the Bedi Bazaar area, sparking chaos. Paleja was riding his bike through Bedi Bazaar when he was suddenly attacked by around 10 armed assailants. Seriously injured, he was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police, including the Jamnagar Superintendent of Police, swiftly arrived at the scene of the incident and the hospital, initiating a thorough investigation into the matter. In protest against Haroon Paleja’s murder, the Jamnagar Bar Association has announced that they will abstain from court proceedings until further notice.
The brutal murder took place in Bedi Bazaar, a locality in the city of Jamnagar. Haroon Paleja, a lawyer residing in Bedi Bazaar and practicing law, was riding his motorcycle through the area in the evening. At that moment, he was ambushed by around 10 assailants armed with sharp weapons. Haroon Paleja sustained severe injuries in the attack and was immediately rushed to Jamnagar Civil Hospital for emergency treatment. However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, he was pronounced dead.
A police convoy, led by the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Jamnagar, rushed to the Bedi Bazaar area where the brutal murder took place. The police convoy arrived at both Bedi Bazaar and the hospital to investigate the incident and apprehend the perpetrators involved in the heinous crime. The police are conducting thorough investigations in different directions to swiftly bring the culprits to justice.
Haroon Paleja, who was the Ward President of the Nagarpalika (Municipality) under the Congress party, was actively involved in legal practice. He currently serves as the Corporator of Ward Number 1 of the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Jamnagar, Prem Sukh Delu, stated that Haroon Paleja is suspected to be involved in the murder. Following this development, combing operations are being carried out in the Bedi Bazaar area. Stringent action will be taken against the suspects. Teams from the Jamnagar Local Crime Branch (LCB) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) are conducting searches for the suspects, with coordination with police from nearby districts.
Lawyers in Jamnagar will refrain from participating in court proceedings. The Jamnagar Bar Association, along with Congress leaders, condemned the murder of Haroon Paleja. In protest against the murder, all members of the Jamnagar Bar Association have decided to abstain from court proceedings starting from tomorrow.
Another lawyer has been murdered in Jamnagar after six years. Today, lawyer and Congress leader Haroon Paleja was assassinated. This incident recalls the murder of lawyer Kirit Joshi in 2018 in the Town Hall area of Jamnagar city, carried out by Sagarito Jayesh Patel.
