CM Takes Action and Assesses State Situation Following Flooding in Vadodara, Surat, Bharuch, and Saurashtra
In Gujarat, heavy rainfall has occurred in several districts over the past two to three days. Particularly, Saurashtra, Kutch, central Gujarat, and southern Gujarat have experienced severe weather conditions. Districts such as Porbandar, Dwarka, Jamnagar, Bhuj, Nakhatrana, Surat, and Vadodara have faced intense rainfall, leading to difficulties for residents.
Previously, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had conducted an aerial survey of the rain-affected areas in Devbhoomi Dwarka. Today, July 25, he visited the Gandhinagar State Emergency Operation Center to assess the situation caused by the rainfall.
CM Conducts Video Conference to Assess Situation
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with Chief Secretary Rajkumar and senior officials, held a video conference with the collectors of seven rain-affected districts, as well as the municipal commissioners of Vadodara and Surat, to gather information about the situation.
The conference focused on the relocation of residents from low-lying areas to safe places and the provision of facilities such as health care and food supplies at relief centers.
Guidance for Vigilant Operations
The Chief Minister advised that where water has accumulated, efforts should be prioritized for draining the water, cleaning mud and debris, and removing fallen trees as soon as the rain stops. He emphasized the importance of vehicle vigilance and coordination by district administration to prevent widespread damage.
The Chief Minister also provided guidance to continue operating with vigilance in case of additional rainfall during the monsoon. He suggested maintaining constant coordination with the State Control Room for proactive planning to minimize damage.
Instructions to the Roads and Buildings Department
The Chief Minister received details about the repair efforts underway to restore electricity supply in areas affected by the rainfall. He instructed the Roads and Buildings Department to expedite the restoration of damaged roads and reopening of blocked routes.
The Chief Minister emphasized the use of machinery, such as JCBs, to remove debris like fallen trees and other obstructions to ensure smooth vehicular movement.
Chief Minister Issues Urgent Directives to Relevant Departments
To address the situation promptly, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed the relevant departments to arrange for necessary equipment and manpower from nearby districts if required.
He emphasized the importance of continuously monitoring rain-affected reservoirs and dams that are either full or at dangerous levels. The Chief Minister has also stressed the need to take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of people and property in the command and catchment areas.
Chief Minister Requests District Collectors to Remain Prepared
In the meeting, discussions were held regarding appropriate surveys for cases of human and animal casualties, as well as agricultural damage, and arrangements for assistance. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also reviewed the deployment of NDRF and SDRF teams, which are assisting local authorities with rescue, relief, and recovery operations.
He urged the district collectors to stay prepared and address the flood disaster with a zero-casualty approach, following timely instructions from the meteorological department for proactive relief and rescue measures.
