Former CM Chandrababu Naidu and Son Nara Lokesh Arrested in Skill Development Case After 2-Year-Old FIR
Andhra Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was arrested on Saturday morning in Nandyal city in connection with the Skill Development scam case. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had issued a non-bailable warrant against him. After addressing a public meeting in Nandyal, Chandrababu was relaxing in his van when he was arrested. After the arrest, he was taken to Nandyal Hospital for a medical examination and will be produced in court from there.
The CBI registered an FIR in this case on December 9, 2021, implicating 25 individuals, but Naidu’s name was not included. The CID claims that based on the investigation’s findings, Chandrababu’s arrest has been made, and they have also detained Nara Lokesh, his son, from the East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh.

The Police had Detained Several Activists.
CID officials and Nandyal district police, under the supervision of DIG Raghurami Reddy of Kurnool Range, attempted to arrest Naidu where he had reached the campsite at around 3 am. After reaching there, they tried to arrest Naidu, but party supporters stopped them.
There was also a clash between the police and party workers. When the activists did not agree, the police detained some of them. According to officials, in this operation, a large number of police personnel have been deployed in the area.
Chandrababu Expressed Fear of Arrest.
According to the news agency PTI, Chandrababu Naidu had expressed apprehensions about his arrest on September 6th. While speaking to people in Rayadurg village in Anantapur district, he had said, “I can be arrested today or tomorrow. I may also face an attack. They may not only attack me but also subject me to various forms of harassment.
The former Chief Minister claimed that no case had been registered against him during his 45-year political career. Former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy had filed several cases against him, but he was not convicted in any of them.
