Captain Anshuman Singh of the Kirti Chakra was part of the 26th Battalion of the Punjab Regiment’s Army Medical Corps. During Operation Meghdoot, he served as a medical officer in Siachen Glacier. On July 19, 2023, he got trapped in a catastrophic fire in the bunker. He helped rescue many trapped civilians during this time.
Anshuman Singh’s Heroic Actions
In the Siachen Glacier on the night of July 19, 2023, approximately at 3:30 AM, a fire broke out in a bunker with Indian Army’s ammunition. Many tents caught fire, trapping Indian soldiers. Captain Anshuman Singh was there and saved his comrades’ lives. At the time, they were trapped in the burning bunker and brought all four companions safely. But the trauma was serious, during which all the injured soldiers were airlifted to safety.
