Tragic Incident During Bullet Train Bridge Construction in Vadodara, Gujarat: 1 Fatality and 3 Injured

In a devastating accident during the operation of a bullet train in Karajan taluka, Vadodara district, one laborer lost their life, and six others were injured. The incident involved a crane, highlighting the critical importance of stringent safety protocols and measures in such high-risk infrastructure projects. Local officials, including the Karajan Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), have promptly responded to the scene, and the rescue operation is underway, led by the fire brigade.

According to the received information, the construction work of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project, undertaken by the High-Speed Rail Corporation, is progressing at a rapid pace. The ongoing operation is currently taking place near Mangrol Sapa Patiya in Karjan taluka. Today, a significant milestone was achieved as a girder was successfully installed using a large crane.

Based on the information received, a tragic accident occurred during the bullet train project, resulting in the loss of life for one laborer. The accident was caused by a fault in the crane being used for the construction. Additionally, six other employees were injured as a result of the incident.

Upon receiving information about the accident, a team of officials quickly responded to the scene. This team included the Karjan Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Karjan Mamlatdar, and a police convoy. Their presence was crucial to oversee the situation and coordinate the response efforts.

In the construction site of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor, specifically in the C-4 package at Curzon near Vadodara, a significant milestone was achieved with the successful completion of girder launching. The girder launching gantry, a critical piece of equipment used in the construction of elevated structures like bridges and viaducts, had been effectively deployed over a span of 14 kilometers.

Regrettably, a tragic accident occurred during the relocation of the launching gantry to its new position on the top of the girder transporter at the construction site of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor. The unfortunate incident happened while the gantry was being self-unloaded from the girder transporter. During this process, the wheel base of the front support (FS) became jammed, leading to the bending of a section of the launching gantry.

In the aftermath of the accident, a worker bravely attempted to check the wheel base but tragically got trapped, and despite the efforts to rescue him, he lost his life. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased worker during this difficult time.

Furthermore, six other workers sustained minor injuries in the incident and have been promptly admitted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and care. Their recovery and well-being are of utmost importance, and we extend our hopes for their swift recovery.
