Bonsai Show in Ahmedabad: Cultivate Centuries-Old Trees at Home! Open Until March 10

For the first time in years, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has organized an exhibition showcasing trees that are over 150 years old. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the “Bonsai Show” organized by the corporation on Sindhu Bhavan Road today. The show will be open for visits from March 4th to March 10th.

Over 1500 Bonsai and Topiary Plants to Be Displayed

Jignesh Patel, the Director of the Garden Department of the corporation, announced that the “Bonsai Show” will feature over 1500 bonsai and topiary plants collected from various places across the country and the world. These trees exhibit a lifespan ranging from 10 to 200 years. Furthermore, all these plants have been prepared in line with the design of a Zen Garden. The exhibition covers an area of approximately 12,000 square meters.

Large Trees to Be Transplanted into Pots

The “Bonsai Show” will feature various types of bonsai trees, including olive, ficus, adenium, banyan, peepal, khatiya ambali, nicodemus, jade plant, peepal, gugal, legostromia, alpigena, and many more. Techniques such as bonsai art will be showcased, including the art of identifying bonsai trees and giving them various shapes.

Availability of Bonsai Plants for Purchase

Tickets for this show, which will run for 7 days, are priced at Rs. 50 per person. Tickets can be obtained online from the Book My Show platform. Five stalls of nurseries have been set up where visitors can also purchase bonsai plants. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Mayor Pratibha Ben Jain, Deputy Mayor Jatinbhai Patel, Standing Committee Chairman Devangbhai Dani, Recreation Committee Chairman Jayesh Trivedi, Deputy Chairman Snehaba Parmar, and Municipal Corporation officials including Commissioner M. Thennarasan.
