Notorious Criminal Bhima Dula Arrested in Porbandar’s Boricha Village

In a raid conducted early this morning at Boricha village near Adityana, Porbandar, the police arrested Bhima Dula, a notorious criminal involved in 48 crimes. Authorities seized four firearms, including a twelve-bore rifle, live cartridges, and ₹91 lakh in cash from his residence. Along with Bhima Dula, three other individuals were also arrested.

Assault Case Investigation Leads to Bhima Dula’s Arrest

Bhima Dula’s involvement was uncovered during the investigation of an assault case from a month ago. It was revealed that Bhima Dula Odedara, along with his associates, had attacked a person under his orders.

Incident Details

On September 24, 2024, the victim, Danabhai Punabhai Chavda (62), a resident of Boricha village, was threatened by three unknown individuals while tending to his cattle. The assailants, armed with a sickle, threatened the victim with death, causing injuries to his shoulder, arm, and leg.

Bhima Dula’s Criminal Associates

During the investigation, it was found that Bhima Dula had planned the attack in response to a previous altercation involving his associates. About three months earlier, Bhima Dula’s men had engaged in a dispute over right-of-way on a road with Ramgar Jeramgar Meghnathia and resident Lakhman Muchar. Upon learning about the conflict, Bhima Dula, with his armed men, issued threats of violence. Subsequently, they planned to assault Danabhai’s brother, Punabhai Chavda.

Police Raid and Seizure of Arms

Acting on intelligence, the Porbandar police launched a raid on Bhima Dula’s farmhouse in Adityana. They seized four firearms, live cartridges, ₹91 lakh 65 thousand in cash, and other weapons such as airguns, swords, and knives. The police arrested both Bhima Dula and his accomplice, Masri Lakhman Odedara, who were hiding at the farmhouse.

Bhima Dula’s Criminal Record

Bhima Dula Odedara is a notorious gang leader in Porbandar, with 48 registered crimes against him, including murder, attempt to murder, and various criminal conspiracies. He is the elder brother of the late Karsanbhai Odedara, a former MLA from Ranavav-Kutiyana. Bhima Dula’s son, Laxman Odedara, is currently serving as the chairman of the Porbandar Marketing Yard.

Long-Standing Criminal History

Bhima Dula has a long criminal history dating back to 1975, including a murder in 2004 where he and his associates killed a father and son in broad daylight in Adityana. While acquitted by a local court, the High Court later sentenced him to life imprisonment after an appeal.
