Arabian Flags Placed on Ganpati Tower in Vadodara; Corporator Condemns Peace Disruption, Flags Removed and Replaced Across All Towers

In Vadodara, the Ganpati festival is currently being celebrated with great enthusiasm. On September 8, 2024, Arabian flags were seen on the terrace of the Awas Yojana Urban-7 Residence on Bhayli Road in Vadodara, attempting to create a sense of unrest.

This incident caused significant outrage among the locals. Initially, the flags were placed at F Tower, where the Ganpati idol was installed.

However, upon learning of the issue, local Corporator Nitin Donga rushed to the scene and had the flags removed. Subsequently, flags were placed on all the towers, but Donga returned again to have these flags removed. The police were also alerted and arrived at the scene to manage the situation.

From the ten towers of Awas, the flag was hoisted on the tower of Ganesh pandal.

Kishanbhai’s Statement: “Such Actions Should Not Happen While Living in India”

Local resident Kishanbhai Mali commented on the situation, stating that the flags were placed to provoke Hindus during the Ganpati festival. He mentioned, “We have removed their flags, but they say that since their festival is coming up, their flags should also remain.

We advise them to live peacefully and refrain from such activities. We do not display our country’s flags and instead, display Pakistan’s flags. Such actions should not happen while living in India.”

The police also rushed to the spot after coming to know about the incident.

Corporator’s Statement: “I Received a Call About the Flags”

Nitin Donga, Corporator of Ward No. 10 of Vadodara Municipal Corporation, stated, “During the ongoing Ganpati festival, I received a call from Urban Seven on Bhayli Road in Vadodara, informing me that some flags had been put up.

When I went there, I saw that it was an Arabian flag. We promptly removed the flag. Afterward, they placed flags on all the towers, so I received another call and returned to remove all the flags again.”

“We Have Stopped It at Our Level”

He further added, “We want to make it clear that when our festivals are ongoing, any activities that create unnecessary tensions must be stopped. The Ganpati festival is happening, and the Eid festival is also approaching. Even small incidents can lead to widespread unrest in Vadodara, Gujarat, and then across the country.

Such actions must be prevented. We have stopped it at our level. We have conveyed what needs to be said to ensure it does not happen again.”

“Why Place Flags on the Ganesh Pandal Tower?”

He added, “There are 10 towers here, and only in the F Tower has the Ganpati mandap been set up collectively. Why is there a need to place flags on that tower where Ganpati has been installed? What are they trying to prove by placing an Arabian flag over our Ganpati mandap? This will not be tolerated at all. Those who understand should understand.”

We Arrived at the Location After Receiving a Call: PSI

In this matter, PSI Jayraj Singh Gohil from the Taluka Police Station stated, “Our team arrived at Urban-7 Residency after receiving a call. Some individuals had put up flags, which were then removed by those people. As a result, the situation was brought under control.”
