On October 14, Canadian Police Commissioner Mike Duheme held a press conference, stating that Indian diplomats and officials in Canada had abused their positions to covertly gather intelligence for the Indian government. Duheme explained that Indian officials employed agents for this purpose.
The commissioner also mentioned that some of these agents were allegedly threatened or coerced into working for the Indian government. He asserted that the information collected by India was intended to target South Asian individuals.
On October 16, Canadian police officials further accused the Lawrence Group of targeting Khalistan supporters and individuals of South Asian origin. RCMP Assistant Commissioner Brigitte Gauvin stated that the Indian government had utilized the Lawrence Group to carry out these activities.
