66-Year-Old Man Succumbs to Injuries After Being Hit by Ambulance in Vadodara
A 66-year-old man riding an Activa scooter was severely injured after being hit by an ambulance near Shreyas School in Manjalpur, Vadodara, on July 15. Today (July 20), he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a private hospital. CCTV footage of the accident has emerged, showing the speeding ambulance striking the Activa rider forcefully, causing him to be flung five feet into the air before hitting the ground. The ambulance driver had transported the injured man to a nearby private hospital before leaving, leading the victim’s son to file a complaint at the Manjalpur police station.

In the Manjalpur area of Vadodara, near Shreyas School, Dip Shah’s father, Bhupendrabhai (66), who runs a milk distribution center, was out delivering milk on the morning of July 15. At around 7 AM, as he approached Shreyas School, a speeding ambulance van struck him forcefully, causing severe injuries to his back.
The incident highlights the tragic consequences of the accident, as captured by the CCTV footage and the subsequent actions taken by the family and authorities.
Son Rushes to Hospital Upon Learning of Father’s Accident
After the accident, the ambulance driver transported the injured elderly man to a nearby private hospital. Upon being informed of the incident, the injured man’s son, Dip, rushed to the hospital. However, during this time, the ambulance driver left the hospital with the ambulance.
Elderly Man Succumbs to Injuries During Treatment
Today, the elderly man succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the private hospital. A complaint has been lodged at the Manjalpur police station regarding the incident. The ambulance involved, belonging to Natwarlal Dahyabhai Parmar from Panchmahal, had its fitness certificate expired on March 23 of the previous year, and its insurance policy had expired on March 4 of the previous year as well.
937 Ambulances Registered in Vadodara
Vadodara city has ambulances for every private hospital, in addition to the government-operated 108 ambulances. There are 937 ambulances registered with the RTO in the city. In the past, illegal activities have been uncovered involving ambulances. Two years ago, in Navsari, police intercepted an ambulance that was being used to transport liquor.
Fitness Certificate Requirement Every Two Years
According to RTO regulations, if an ambulance van is over 8 years old, it must obtain a fitness certificate annually. If the ambulance is less than 8 years old, a fitness certificate is required every two years. Additionally, the vehicle must be registered under the ambulance category.
