Following the incident, the police force, including the DySP, arrived at the school to investigate. DySP Dharmendrasinh Chauhan stated that the school had hidden the fire incident, and legal action would be taken as per regulations. The DEO also mentioned that the incident would be taken seriously.

No Emergency Exit Where Fire Occurred

It is noteworthy that there was no emergency exit in the building where the fire occurred, with only one staircase for movement. If the fire had been severe, the children’s lives would have been at risk. Additionally, the decision has been made to conduct education online. Importantly, exams were scheduled to be held in the school in the coming days, which have now been postponed.

The DEO stated that in the preliminary investigation, the school’s negligence was evident. All types of checks will be conducted, and parents’ complaints have been taken into account.

Education Minister Claims Unawareness of the Incident

Education Minister Praful Panseriya, attending an event at the Diamond Bourse in Surat, told the media that he was unaware of the incident. He learned about it through the media. He said that he would discuss the matter with his department and ensure a thorough investigation if such an incident occurred. He emphasized that incidents in malls, cinemas, schools, or any place should not be hidden and should be prevented.

Parents Concerned About the Incident

They argue that if it was a mock drill, it should have been conducted on the ground floor, not on the upper floors. Mock drills should not be conducted without informing parents. Fire Incident at a School in Maninagar Two Days Ago

A short circuit caused a fire at Swaminarayan School in Maninagar two days ago. Two fire brigade vehicles were immediately dispatched. On Thursday at around 2:45 PM, a fire broke out in an electric junction box in the lobby on the second floor. The fire was quickly extinguished using fire extinguishers by the school’s fire staff. The students were evacuated as soon as smoke was detected. The fire brigade was not initially informed, but an investigation was conducted today. School administrators have been instructed to inform the fire department immediately in the future if a similar incident occurs.
