20-Year-Old Fires AR-15 at Trump from 120 Meters: Secret Service Caught Off Guard

The 20-year-old young man was a resident of Bethel Park, a small town about 40 miles from the rally site. The reason for his attack on Trump is still unclear. The incident occurred while Trump was addressing a rally. It is claimed that the shooter was approximately 120 meters from the speech stage. He fired at Trump with an AR-style rifle.

Attacker is a member of Trump’s party

The US investigation agency FBI has stated that according to Thomas Matthew Crooks’ voter ID card, he was a member of Trump’s Republican Party. He had also donated $15 (approximately 1250 rupees) to the party.

The gunman was standing on the roof of a manufacturing company, about 120 meters from the platform where Trump was giving his speech. He aimed at Trump from there and fired. Donald Trump’s rally was organized in the open-air Butler Farm Show Grounds. The location was so open that the sniper had no trouble targeting. He could see the former president without any hindrance from his position.

US Secret Service counter-sniper team responds

Just behind where Trump was standing and giving his speech was another structure (like a company’s warehouse), where the US Secret Service’s counter-sniper team was deployed. As soon as the attacker fired, the counter-sniper team immediately responded and shot the attacker from about 200 meters away. The building where the attacker’s body was found belongs to AGR International Company.

As soon as Donald Trump was attacked, Secret Service agents immediately rushed to him and covered him from all sides. Trump then stood up and showed his determination by clenching his fist towards his supporters. Secret Service agents safely escorted him to a car and then to a hospital. After receiving primary treatment for the ear injury, Donald Trump was discharged from the hospital.

According to US Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi, one person attending the rally was killed in the attack, while two others were seriously injured. He said the investigation is ongoing, and the Secret Service has informed the FBI about the incident.
