Tata Nexon iCNG Dark Edition Launched with 24km/kg Mileage, Turbo Petrol Engine & 6 Airbags, Priced from ₹12.70 Lakh
Tata Motors launched the Dark Edition of its most popular car, the Nexon CNG, on January 27. The Nexon CNG Dark Edition is based on the Creative+ and Fearless+ trims and features an all-black exterior and interior theme.
This compact SUV is equipped with a turbo petrol engine, making it the first car in India to combine a turbo petrol engine with a CNG system. According to the company, the car offers a mileage of 24 kilometers per kilogram of CNG.
Tata Nexon iCNG Dark Edition Priced from ₹12.70 Lakh
The Tata Nexon Dark Edition was initially launched in March last year, while its CNG variant was introduced in September 2024. The Nexon iCNG Dark Edition Creative+ is priced at ₹12.70 lakh, which is ₹40,000 higher than the regular CNG variant.
Meanwhile, the top-spec Fearless+ PS Dark trim of the Nexon CNG is priced ₹20,000 higher than the standard variant.
What’s New in the Nexon iCNG Dark Edition?
The Tata Nexon iCNG Dark Edition features 16-inch black alloy wheels and an all-black exterior. The SUV comes with a ‘Dark’ badging on the side fenders, and the ‘Nexon’ badging is finished in black.
Inside, the Nexon iCNG Dark Edition boasts an all-black interior with leatherette seat upholstery. Additionally, the headrests are branded with the ‘Dark’ logo, adding to its premium feel.

Exterior: New LED Setup and Alloy Wheels
In terms of design, the Nexon iCNG resembles its regular petrol and diesel models. The front features a new LED DRL split headlamp setup, with LED headlamps integrated into the sporty bumper below.
At the rear, the car is equipped with a fully connected LED tail light, which Tata Motors calls the ‘X Factor Tail Lamp.’ Additionally, the car offers a welcome and goodbye function, enhancing its premium appeal.
Interior: 10.25-Inch Touchscreen Infotainment System
The cabin of the Tata Nexon iCNG features a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel for a modern look. Additionally, the car includes a touch panel HVAC unit on the dashboard and a new gear selector on the center console.
The Nexon iCNG is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The top variants also offer front ventilated seats, adding to the comfort and luxury of the SUV.
Twin-Cylinder Tank Setup with 60-Liter Capacity
The Nexon iCNG Dark Edition features twin-cylinder technology in the boot, with a combined capacity of 60 liters (two cylinders of 30 liters each). This setup provides the Nexon iCNG with a boot space of 321 liters, which is 61 liters less than its petrol and diesel variants.
Gas Leak Detection Safety Feature
Like other CNG models, Tata has equipped the Nexon iCNG with a gas leak detection safety feature. In the event of a CNG leak, the leak detection technology automatically switches the vehicle from CNG mode to petrol mode. This technology also alerts the driver about the gas leak, ensuring safety.
Additionally, the car is equipped with a micro switch to keep it off during refueling. This switch automatically cuts off the ignition as soon as the fuel lid is opened. The car will not start until the fuel lid is securely closed. It also provides a ‘Close Fuel Lid’ alert on the instrument cluster for added convenience and safety.
Performance: Available in Petrol, Diesel, CNG, and Electric Variants
The Tata Nexon iCNG Dark Edition comes with no mechanical changes. It is powered by a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol CNG engine that generates 100PS of power and 170Nm of torque. For transmission, it is equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and an automatic transmission option is not yet available.
In the ICE-powered variants of Nexon, the same engine produces 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque. These variants offer a choice of 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 7-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch Automatic Transmission), and 6-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gearboxes.
Additionally, Nexon is available with a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 115PS of power and 260Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT gearbox.
Tata Nexon also comes in an electric variant, making it the first car in India to be available in all four powertrain options: petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric.
