Swiggy CEO Rohit Kapoor Debunks the Myth of Midnight Work for Success, Calls It ‘Nonsense’

Swiggy CEO Rohit Kapoor Criticizes ‘Hustle Culture,’ Calls It a ‘Nonsense’ Idea

Swiggy’s CEO, Rohit Kapoor, has taken a stand against the ‘hustle culture’ commonly seen in corporate workplaces, dismissing it as a “nonsense” concept. Speaking at an event organized by YourStory, Kapoor questioned the need for overworking, stating, “Who told you that you need to work until midnight? Go home, you have a dog, a wife, a girlfriend, children—do something with your life.”

Kapoor’s remarks have gone viral on social media, with many netizens applauding him for his down-to-earth perspective.

However, while Kapoor dismisses the idea of extreme overwork, others, including Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, advocate for extra hours to improve performance in the office.

You Don’t Have to Go Crazy to Succeed

Kapoor emphasized that it’s a flawed belief to think one must abandon everything to succeed. He stated that hard work is essential as nothing in life comes easy, but not at the cost of personal well-being.

His comments have reignited discussions about work culture, especially in light of the recent tragic death of a Chartered Accountant working for EY in Pune.

Following his statement, many people took to social media to share their opinions:

  • “Finally, someone is talking to us like regular people.”
  • “This mindset is what will help Swiggy beat Zomato.”
  • “It’s true, those who can’t finish their work in 8 hours won’t be able to do it in 12-14 either.”
  • “Finally, someone said something sensible.”
  • “Narayana Murthy needs to rethink his stance.”
  • “People need to talk more about this.”
