Nissan X-Trail Flagship SUV Reveal: Launching in India on August 1st with Hybrid Engine
Nissan India has unveiled the fourth generation of its SUV, the X-Trail, in India. The company is preparing to launch the car with a 3-cylinder mild hybrid engine on August 1, 2024. It will be imported and sold as a completely built unit here and will be Nissan’s flagship car in India.
The X-Trail’s price may exceed ₹40 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, and Jeep Meridian. The X-Trail is making a return to India after 10 years. The company had discontinued it in 2014. The first and second generation models were sold in India.
Nissan X-Trail: Exterior Design
The appearance of the Nissan X-Trail, announced in India, is similar to the model sold in global markets. It features split headlights and LED DRLs on the front. The SUV has a U-shaped grille, which is surrounded by chrome and features the company logo in the center. The sides of the car are adorned with 20-inch alloy wheels and thick body cladding. At the rear, the new X-Trail sports wraparound LED taillights, which are not connected as in modern cars today.
Nissan X-Trail: Interior and Features
The cabin of the fourth-generation X-Trail features an all-black theme with fabric upholstery. It is equipped with a 12.3-inch fully digital driver display on the dashboard, while an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Additionally, the car includes features such as dual-zone AC, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, paddle shifters, and sliding and reclining second-row seats. For passenger safety, the car comes with 7 airbags, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Nissan X-Trail: Engine and Transmission
Globally, the X-Trail is offered with multiple engine options and drivetrains, but in India, it will be available only with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The engine features 12W mild-hybrid technology, producing 00hp of power and 00Nm of torque. The engine is tuned with a CVT automatic gearbox for transmission.
