MG Windsor EV Launching on September 11: Priced Under 20 Lakhs, Competing with Curvv and Nexon EV

The British automobile brand Morris Garages (MG) Motor India is set to launch its new crossover utility vehicle (CUV), the Windsor EV, on September 11. Priced under ₹20 lakhs, the Windsor EV will sit just below the ZS EV in the company’s electric vehicle portfolio.

Windsor EV Teased Ahead of Launch

Recently, the company released a teaser for the Windsor EV. The teaser video, shared on social media platform X, shows the car being tested in the mountainous terrains of Ladakh. The Windsor EV is expected to compete with other electric vehicles like the Tata Curvv EV, Nexon EV, and Mahindra XUV400.

International Versions Offer Two Battery Pack Options, 460 km Range

In international markets, this vehicle is sold under the name Wuling Cloud EV in Indonesia. While specific details about the Indian version are yet to be disclosed, it is anticipated to feature a similar electric powertrain as the Cloud EV. The Cloud EV offers two battery pack options:

  • 37.9 kWh Battery Pack: Provides a range of 360 km.
  • 50.6 kWh Battery Pack: Offers a claimed range of 460 km.

The EV is powered by a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that generates 134 hp. The vehicle measures approximately 4.3 meters in length with a 2,700 mm wheelbase, giving it an MPV-like appearance, although it will only be available in a 5-seat configuration.

Comfort Features: Electrically Adjustable Front Seats and More

MG is branding the Windsor EV as India’s first intelligent CUV. It may come equipped with several advanced features, including a 15.6-inch touchscreen, 8.8-inch digital driver display, wireless phone charging, multi-color ambient lighting, electrically adjustable front seats, and an electric tailgate.

Safety Features: Possible ADAS with 6 Airbags

Safety features in the Windsor EV might include 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic parking brake, and a 360-degree camera. The vehicle could also feature an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with functions like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.
