MG launches ‘Windsor’ EV at ₹9.99 Lakh: India’s First Crossover Utility Vehicle, 331km Range
MG Motor India has launched its first Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) ‘Windsor’ in the Indian market. The company has introduced it at an initial price of ₹9.99 lakh.
Specifications and Features
The MG ‘Windsor’ EV features a 38 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which generates 136 PS power and 200 Nm of maximum torque. Once fully charged, the car will offer a range of 331 km. The car comes with 604 liters of boot space, an 8.8-inch digital cluster, and wireless charging capabilities.
Buyback Guarantee and Booking Details
The company is offering a 60% buyback guarantee for up to 3 years with the car. Bookings will start from the first day of Navratri, and deliveries will begin from Dussehra. MG Motors has developed it in partnership with JSW.
Charging Facilities and Comfort Features
Customers of the Windsor will get free public charging for the first year at MG e-HUB. The car offers sedan-like comfort and SUV-like space. It also features the largest grand view 15.6-inch touch display in its segment, a panoramic infinity view glass roof, and Aero-Lounge seats.
Panoramic Glass Roof
The car will also be available with a panoramic glass roof, as seen in videos shared on the social media platform X. This glass roof allows a good amount of light into the cabin, giving it a premium feel. A similar glass roof is also available in the Hyundai Premium EV Ioniq 5.
Performance and Luxury Features
Earlier teasers showed the car navigating through water, mountains, and paved roads, highlighting its high ground clearance and performance. Segment-first Aero-Lounge seats were also featured, indicating that the car is entering the Indian market with many luxury features.
Battery Options and Specifications
Available abroad in two battery pack options, the car is sold in Indonesia under the name Wuling Cloud EV. Specifications for the Indian version are yet to be announced. It may be offered with the Cloud EV electric powertrain and comes in the following battery pack options:
- 37.9 kWh battery pack option with a range of 360 km.
- 50.6 kWh battery pack option with a claimed range of 460 km.
It is powered by a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 134 hp. This EV is approximately 4.3 meters long with a 2,700 mm wheelbase. It resembles an MPV but will only be available in a 5-seat configuration.
Comfort Features
The car features electrically adjustable front seats. The company claims it to be India’s first intelligent CUV. It includes amenities such as an 8.8-inch digital driver display, wireless phone charging, multi-color ambient lighting, electrically adjustable front seats, and an electric tailgate.
Safety Features
The car offers safety features including 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Electronic Parking Brake, and a 360-degree camera. The Windsor EV may also provide an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking functions.
