On October 22, Mercedes-Benz India officially launched the facelift version of the Mercedes-AMG G63. The luxury SUV comes with a starting price of ₹3.60 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India).
Bookings & Availability
Over 120 units from the first batch have already been booked. The company has opened bookings for the second batch, which is expected to be delivered by the third quarter of 2025.
New Design Elements & Updated Features
The facelift version comes with several new design elements, and the cabin has also been updated. The SUV features a 4-liter twin-turbo mild-hybrid petrol engine, an active suspension setup, and a 4-wheel drive system. While the AMG G63 has no direct competition, it provides stiff competition to off-road vehicles like the Jeep Wrangler and Land Rover Defender.
Exterior: 22-Inch Alloy Wheels & Updated Design
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 retains the boxy shape of its predecessor. The front features a black grille with three vertical slats and air inlets, while the bumper and hood come with newly designed AMG badging. The round projector-based LED headlights with circular LED DRLs and fender-mounted turn indicators give it a distinct look. The SUV offers new 22-inch alloy wheel options and is available in 31 color choices with 29 seat upholstery options.
Interior: 12.3-Inch Dual Touchscreens
The interior layout of the 2024 AMG G63 remains familiar but now includes a new steering wheel. The cabin boasts Nappa leather upholstery, carbon fiber accents, and customizable ambient lighting. The 12.3-inch infotainment screen features updated software, and the off-road cockpit has also been upgraded. Additional features include augmented reality navigation.
Advanced Features: 18-Speaker Sound System & Sunroof
The dashboard hosts dual 12.3-inch touchscreens, one for infotainment and the other for driver display. The SUV is equipped with an 18-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system, 3-zone automatic climate control, and a sunroof.
Safety: Enhanced with Updated ADAS
For safety, the G63 comes equipped with multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot assist, and child ISOFIX anchor seat mounts. It also features advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including active brake assist and lane-keep assist.
Performance: Mild-Hybrid Engine with Active Ride Control Suspension
Powering the AMG G63 is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This setup produces 576hp and 850Nm of torque, with an additional 20hp boost available during acceleration. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, and the SUV is equipped with Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The SUV also introduces a new “Race Start” function, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km/h. The G63 now also includes launch control for the first time.
Suspension System: AMG Active Ride Control
The car features AMG’s active ride control suspension, which includes active hydraulic roll stabilization and adjustable damping. This ensures a smooth performance across various surfaces.
