MapMyIndia Sends Legal Notice to Ola Electric Over Data Theft Allegations
Map My India, a digital mapping service company, has filed a case against Ola Electric, alleging that the company stole its data and violated licensing agreements to create Ola Maps. This information has been provided by Forbes India.
Allegation of Data Theft from Customers
According to reports, CE Info Systems, the parent company of Map My India, claims that Ola Electric copied its data by reverse-engineering licensed products. In June 2021, Ola Electric signed an agreement with CE Info Systems for the use of its data.
Accusation of Theft of Customer Data
CE Info Systems has claimed that Ola Electric copied the company’s API (Application Programming Interface) and SDK (Software Development Kit) to create Ola Maps. Ola has allegedly used the data of our customers for its benefit.
Ola Launches Its Map
This month, ride aggregator Ola launched Ola Maps. It was created using real-time data from the Ola fleet and open-source government data repositories, including OpenStreetMaps. The company stated that it has now completely ceased using Google Maps.
