Gujarat Awarded as the Highest Achiever State in Renewable Energy, 8 Other States Recognized
Gujarat has been awarded as the highest achiever in the field of renewable energy. Along with Gujarat, eight other states in the country have been recognized as best performers. With a capacity of 28,220 MW, Gujarat has been selected as the highest achiever state in overall renewable energy.
Gujarat has also been chosen as the highest achiever in wind power, boasting a capacity of 11,822 MW. Additionally, Gujarat has earned the title of the second-highest achiever state in solar power with a capacity of 14,201 MW.
Performance of Rajasthan in Renewable Energy Sector
In the renewable energy sector, the performance of Rajasthan has been noteworthy. Following Gujarat, Rajasthan is the next in line. With a capacity of 22,031 MW, Rajasthan has been recognized as the highest achiever state in overall solar power.
Rajasthan has also achieved the status of the second-highest achiever state in renewable energy with a capacity of 22,031 MW.
Awards for Public Sector Companies and Financial Institutions in Renewable Energy
Public sector companies and financial institutions have also been recognized for their outstanding performance in the renewable energy sector. Among them, Adani Green Energy Limited and Renew Private Limited have been awarded as the highest achievers among independent power producers in overall wind power capacity. Their power generation capacity stands at 4,741 MW.
Awards for Tata Power Company Limited and Greenko Group in Renewable Energy
Tata Power Company Limited has been recognized as the second-highest achiever among independent power producers in overall solar power capacity, with a capacity of 6,068 MW. Greenko Group has been awarded as the second-highest achiever among independent power producers in overall wind power capacity, with a capacity of 3,187 MW.
Awards for Manufacturers in Renewable Energy Sector
Varee Energies Limited has been awarded as the largest solar PV module manufacturer with a capacity of 10,775 MW. Mundra Solar Technologies Limited and Vestas Wind Technologies India Private Limited have been recognized for manufacturing the largest wind turbines with a capacity of 500 MW.
Suzlon Energy Limited has been awarded as the second-largest wind turbine manufacturer with a capacity of 3,150 MW. Envision Windpower Technologies India Pvt. Ltd., Inox Wind Ltd., and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd. have been jointly awarded as the third-largest wind turbine manufacturers, each with a capacity of 3,000 MW.
Torrent Renewable Energy to Invest ₹64,000 Crore in Power Generation
Torrent Power Limited, a Gujarat-based company, has signed an agreement with the Gujarat government to invest ₹57,000 crore by 2030 for generating 10 gigawatts of electricity using renewable energy. This project is expected to create employment for 25,000 people. Torrent Power will implement a hybrid project combining solar and wind power in Gujarat’s Dwarka district.
In addition, Torrent Power is also exploring the development of green hydrogen and green ammonia production projects. As part of this plan, Torrent Power has committed to investing ₹7,200 crore to set up a plant for producing 100,000 kilotons of green ammonia annually, which will generate 1,000 jobs.
Furthermore, Torrent Power has finalized the site for a pumped storage project (PSP), with plans to invest between ₹25,000 crore and ₹35,000 crore to develop a PSP with a capacity of 5 to 8 gigawatts.
