BMW i5 Luxury Electric Car Launched at ₹1.20 Crore: Claims Over 516km Range on Full Charge, Set to Compete with Audi e-tron GT
BMW has launched the BMW i5, the electric version of its latest generation 5 Series sedan, in the Indian market. The company claims that this luxurious electric car can offer a range of over 516km on a full charge.
Packed with features like dual digital displays, a panoramic glass roof, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), the i5 sets a new standard in electric vehicle technology.
Positioned between the i4 and i7 in BMW’s EV lineup, the i5 presents a compelling alternative to entry-level variants of competitors like the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan, providing a blend of luxury and sustainability at a competitive price point.
BMW i5: Price and Warranty Details
The BMW i5 electric sedan comes with a price tag of ₹1.20 crore (ex-showroom, India). Importantly, bookings for this electric sedan commenced on April 4th, with deliveries set to begin soon.
The company is offering a standard warranty of either a limited number of kilometers or 2 years with the i5 M60 car, extendable up to 5 years.
Moreover, for the battery pack of the i5, a warranty of up to 8 years or 1.6 lakh kilometers is provided, ensuring peace of mind for the customers regarding the longevity and performance of their electric vehicle investment.
Performance and Range: The Powerhouse BMW i5
The BMW i5 comes with an all-wheel-drive option, featuring an electric motor on each axle. Both electric motors generate a combined maximum power of 601hp and a torque of 795Nm.
BMW claims that the i5 electric car can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 230kmph.
To deliver power to the motors, the car is equipped with an 83.9kWh battery pack, providing a WLTP range of 516 kilometers on a single full charge. BMW offers an 11 kW wall charger and a 22 kW AC charger as charging options.
The brand boasts that the EV can handle 205kW DC charging, enabling the car to charge from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes, ensuring convenience and efficiency for the users.
