BMW CE 02 Electric Scooter Launched in India: Priced from ₹4.50 lakh with a Range of 108 km on a Full Charge
BMW Motorrad India has launched its premium electric scooter, the BMW CE 02, in the Indian market. The company claims that it can travel 108 kilometers on a full charge. The price of the electric scooter is set at ₹4.50 lakh.
This is the company’s second premium electric two-wheeler in India. Earlier this year, in July, the company launched its super-premium electric scooter, the BMW CE 04, which boasts a range of 130 kilometers, making it the most expensive electric scooter in India.
BMW CE 02: Design
The BMW CE 02 features an attractive, minimalist design with minimal bodywork. It includes LED lighting, a flat single seat, and the battery and motor positioned directly beneath. Unlike other two-wheelers defined as scooters or motorcycles, the BMW CE 02 is described by the company as an urban commuter, primarily due to its unique design tailored for city travel.
The BMW CE 02 receives a blackout treatment that includes black body panels, a black seat, and black rims, complemented by black and white body decals. The high-line package adds a splash of color with white and teal stripes on the seat, body decals, and rims, as well as gold anodized forks at the front.
BMW CE 02 Specifications
When it comes to features, the BMW CE 02 adopts a minimal yet practical approach. It is equipped with a 3.5-inch TFT instrument cluster that displays essential information such as speed, battery level, range, and riding modes. Speaking of riding modes, the BMW CE 02 comes standard with two riding modes.
Opting for the high-line package adds a ‘Flash’ mode, which provides maximum performance with regenerative braking. The high-line package also includes heated grips and mounting points for a mobile phone. As standard features, it includes an adjustable brake lever, LED lighting, keyless ride, a USB-C socket, and disc brakes at both ends.
Air-Cooled Electric Motor
The BMW CE 02 is propelled by a PMS electric motor. While globally it is offered with two battery pack options—11 kW (14.7 bhp) and 4 kW (5.3 bhp)—in India, the BMW CE 02 comes with two 1.96 kWh battery packs that provide power at 14.7 bhp and 55 Nm of torque.
This setup is claimed to deliver a range of 108 kilometers on a single charge. BMW asserts that the CE 02 can reach a top speed of 95 kilometers per hour.
The company further claims that this two-wheeler can accelerate from a standstill to 50 kilometers per hour in just 3 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 95 kilometers per hour.
The BMW CE 02 comes standard with an external charger that offers 0.9 kW of charging power, while customers opting for the high-line package receive a fast charger with 1.5 kW of charging power.
