The Four Grand Slam Tournaments

There are four Grand Slam tournaments in tennis. The Australian Open kicks off the year in January, followed by the French Open in May and June. Wimbledon takes place in July, and the US Open is held in August and September. The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year.

The Unique Wimbledon Tournament

Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam tournament not organized by a national tennis association. It is hosted by the All England Club, which was founded in 1868. Originally called the All England Tennis and Croquet Club, the club started the Wimbledon tournament in 1877.

Today, it is a private club with 500 members, and the Princess of Wales, currently Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, is its patron.
